Dear UNSWR Association members

The Staff Cadets Mess (the Buckley VC Club) at the UNSWR Depot, Kensington has had 100 specially minted coins and made available for auction as a fund raising initiative for the Club.

The coins are described as being 40mm x 4mm in silver with the University of New South Wales Regiment badge on one side and the Buckley VC Club Lion logo on the other. Each coin is uniquely numbered and artwork for the coins is shown in the attached .jpg file.

Four of the coins (002-005) have been placed on the eBay internet website for auction and members of the UNSWR Association have been invited to participate in the bidding. If you would like to make a bid please go the eBay website at

It will be noted that there are only four days left for bidding for coins 002-005 but there will be an opportunity for a later auction of other coins.

Good Afternoon All

I am very happy to announce that I have now received our first one hundred Buckley VC Club Coins. Please read through the following timeline in regards to coin sales over the next couple of weeks:

Thursday 30 August 2007. Coins 002, 003, 004 and 005 will be registered for on-line auction through E-bay. The Coins will commence with a start value of $15.00 and will be on sale for one week finishing 06 September 2007. The coins will be listed under the headings Military / Modern - Current and I'd like to encourage as many people to logon and review the process, perhaps even bid on the items.

The Auction night for Coins 10, 20, 50, 69, 100 date has not been set at this stage. Once a suitable night has been confirmed with the OC Kensington Company members will be advised with as much notice as possible. Date not before 09 September 2007.

Silent Auctions on preferred numbers.

Some members have already requested the Buckley Club to reserve them a particular numbered coin, I'd like to give the opportunity for the rest of the Club and affiliated members until 0800 30 August 07 to have their "emailed" requests sent through to me. If you are the only member who has requested a particular number then your Coin will be available for you to purchase for $15.00 on the Auction Night. This contract is non binding, if you decide at a later stage that you would like to bid on the on-line coins or the auctions at the Buckley Club then you are free to do so and the coin will be returned to over the counter sales.

If there are two or more people requesting the same numbered coin then I'll set up a silent auction involving only the interested members. I will contact each member and allow them to make either an email, text or verbal bid. I will then inform the lowest bidder and allow them to raise or pass until we have an outcome. If you have made a successful bid during the silent auction process then the sale is binding and your coin will be available to you over the Buckley VC Club counter. This process will commence Thursday 30 August 2007 and finish Tuesday 11 September 2007.

If I have left anyone of the distribution list or you know of someone who would be particularly interested (aka former Buckley Club patrons and members of the Regiment) please feel free to send this email on. I do hope that all of our members get a kick out of the coin action over the next couple of weeks and I'll post further information as it becomes relevant.
